Peace Quilt Blog Hop and Giveaway!

It's my day for the Peace Quilt Blog Hop!

As I mentioned before, this pattern was created by my friend Rene' of Rene' Creates.  You can purchase the pattern here.

I made the baby quilt size:

The fabric is all City Weekend by Liesl Gibson for Oliver + S for Moda.  I quilted it with straight(?) lines about 3/8" apart.  It feels and looks great.  I added one 2 1/2" border that was not included in the pattern and the final dimentions are 35" X 35".

Bella Clutch

Peace Quilt Blog Hop

About that pattern testing I mentioned yesterday; it was for my friend Rene' of Rene' Creates blog, who has written her first pattern. It's for her Peace Quilt! It is so cute and wonderful! Her pattern is for three different sizes...baby, lap, or full sized (75"x75"). Pattern Testing

I am ready to quilt a pattern I'm testing for a friend and will be able to show you soon.  Here are the fabrics I'm using:

These are all from the City Weekend line by Liesl Gibson for Oliver & S for Moda.  The fabric worked perfect for this pattern.

Mod Mosaic

The block chosen for our block lottery tomorrow night at the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild meeting is the Mod Mosaic by Elizabeth Hartman. Here is the color inspiration:

This was my first attempt at a mosaic block.  It's not perfect, but it will do.  

 

One More Giraffe Baby Quilt

Did I mention that our family added FIVE babies this year SINCE our grandson Vincent was born in September. Well, this keeps me making baby quilts for a while.

I finished this one for great-nephew Jaxson in Texas yesterday:

Yes, it's similar to the one I made great-niece Abby in Texas a few weeks ago. I had lots of fun with the appliqué and quilting...pebbles around the giraffe, geometric in the blue border and then loopy for the rest of the quilt. It will be in the mail tomorrow.

The quilt finished at 36" X 42" and the solids are Kona and all the prints are Savannah Bop by Thomas Knauer for Andover Fabrics.

Two Princesses Needed Ball Gowns...

They are going to visit Disney World and their grandma wanted to make sure they had the proper attire:

They might need petticoats yet to get the right volume; I'll find out after they try the dresses on this evening. So fun.....

Mid-Century Modern Quilt Bee

I was invited to join the Mid-Century Modern Quilt Bee by a retreat friend and could't wait to get started. In fact, I have already finished my January block!

Carla asked for four churn dash blocks out of pink, orange and red to be sewn into a twelve inch finished block.

Can you tell I had fun pulling these fabrics from my stash and making this? Well, I did.

Not sure what I'm going to do for my month, but it is not until August.

In Your Words

Today is day one of In Your Words blog hop and if you are stopping by my blog for the first time - welcome!

I'm glad we had lots of lead time to prepare for this blog hop because the instructions said:

Well here is what I made and I had fun:

If you have followed my blog at all, you know my favorite job is being a grandmother, so I had to make something about that. I found this quote which I hope says what my grandchildren will always think about coming to our house.
