Borders 1, 2 and 3 on Marcelle Medallion

So far, so good!  Now we'll see how those geese fly!

Marcelle Medallion part 1 of ?

I've loved the Marcelle Medallion since the first time I saw it.  Now I've started one too!

This is the center which I paper pieced. The pattern is from the book Liberty Love by Alexia Abegg.

I've chose a different color palette from most I've seen:

Hope this works out for the rest of the borders.  We'll see.

 

Machine Pieced Hexagon Quilt

Yes, I machine pieced this hexagon quilt ( and machine quilted it and applied the binding by machine)!

You would think it was a fast finish then right?  Well, not so much.  I attended an amazing workshop with the incredible Jackie Gering of Tallgrass Prairie Studios last fall and learned her technique for machine piecing the hexagon.  I finished piecing it at retreat last October and it sat until I based it in July.

 I finally got busy quilting it and I am so happy with the finish.  The hexagons are five inches diameter finished.  The quilt finished at 62" X 80".

Back to School with Oliver + S Challenge

Back to School with Oliver + S Challenge

Sew Mama Sew is working with Oliver + S on their new back to school patterns just released and I was lucky enough to be able to make their Art Museum Vest + Trouser pattern!

I wasn't able to get together with my model Vincent in time for this post but will at a later time.

There is great detailing on the lined vest: front welt pocket and three button closing.

The back has two buttons to close the belt.

 

The trousers have a faux fly, belt loops, side pockets, back welt pockets, lined 3/4 elastic waist:

 

 

This is an excellent pattern instructing all of the details that make this vest and trousers so cute.  The car fabric is Trefle by KOKKA and the print fabric is OOP See Spot Dick and Jane by Michael Miller.  The pattern can be found here.

Modern Neutrals Blog Tour

Today I'm happy to be part of the blog tour for Amy Ellis' book Modern Neutrals.

 
Her book is full of modern quilts created with neutral palettes. I have to admit I have a particular favorite...I was able to piece one of the quilts in the book for Amy!  It's called Triangle Fury:

 This paper-pieced beauty would also be perfect in some bright prints although I love Amy's choice of white and black!
When I'm working on multiple project, like piecing for pattern designer's, I definitely need to keep a list so I know my priorities.

Look at the movement in this quilt.  Can't you just see it showing off your favorites from a new line like Scrumptious by Thimbleblossom for Moda?
