Woo Hoo - the Geese are all in the Same Forrest!!

I am so happy to have this together. You see, the small hiccup that Anina of Twiddletails who created the awesome pattern (as a block of the month) referred to actually involved REMAKING 46 BLOCKS!! My printer decided to resize the templates I printed on almost half of the blocks. Only by about 1/2 inch, so not noticeable to my eye UNTIL I tried to put them together. Yes, I needed to remake them to get this to turn out the way it should be.

Next....how to quilt it? I appreciate all the ideas I got on my thrift shop rescue, so hopefully you will help me out on this one too!!

My Thrift Store Rescue

So....I never go to thrift stores, but my sister was here from Texas and we spent some time "Up North" at the cabin with another sister. A rainy afternoon and we headed to the nearest small town and the thrift stores. And look what jumped into my hands from a shelf in the back corner of the cramped space!!!
It is only the quilt top, but it is 78" by 102" and all hand pieced Grandmother's Flower Garden! The hexagons are all 3/4" finished measurement on each side. There is no border. The seller indicated fabrics are from the twenties and thirties. Now what do I do with it to make it usable? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Christmas Table Topper

Since all of you probably also entered to win Jodi's give away at Simply This That and the Other you already may know I was the lucky winner of this Christmas Table Topper.



Jodi made this table topper with a Winter Song Turnover and it was a tutorial at Moda Bake Shop along with a table runner and pillow.



The mailman delivered it to my door this morning and I will have a hard time waiting until the holidays to use it! It's so cute. Thanks again Jodi!

Spicy Spiral Table Runner

Last Thursday, nine of us from the quilt guild got together (after doing some homework first) and each made the Spicy Spiral Table Runner from School House Quilts.
It is a great pattern using the nine degree ruler but it was great to have an instructor who had made it previously. Working in pairs cutting out the wedges from our strata was very helpful. Everyone's was so different and so beautiful. You can click on the photo and see the individual fabrics better.

I can happily say all eight fabrics needed for the runner, plus the binding and backing came from my stash too!



I just finished the binding this morning. This was such a fun project. Next I am going to use the nine degree ruler for a tree skirt.

Two Small Projects

I wanted to try the 60 degree ruler so I dug out the leftovers from my Starry Nights quilt and made this table runner. It was very easy.



My niece Maya will be celebrating her eighth birthday next week so I used some more leftover Swanky to make her a name pillow. I hope she likes it.

Mail today from Turkey and Australia

I received this package in the mail today from Turkey! Look at the cool stamps!



Inside was this package wrapped with bright red ribbon.



And inside was this awesome turquoise handmade Modular Messenger Bag all the way from Turkey! I won it in a drawing on the Soul Mama blog when she was highlighting sponsor Banyan Hippo etsy. It is the prettiest color canvas, has an expandable strap, completely lined with pockets and has a place to secure your keys. She has many other awesome bags and children's things in her shop.
