Swap Pillow Finish

PTS10 Pillow is finished.

I had never made anything out of the clam shell design before so I chose some fabric that I thought my partner might like, researched for info on other blogs and jumped in with both feet.

I'll have to say this wasn't a quick project.  After the clams were in one piece, I layered them on top of some batting and muslin.  Then I hand quilted all the curved edges with white perle cotton no. 8.

I added a back of Kona grey along with a hidden zipper and it will be sent off in the mail tomorrow to my secret partner.

Oh, I love, love the cushion Mary!
I had a go at doing the clamshells for a quilt and gave up on them.
Now a cushion like that is a more do-able size.
Beautiful!

It's beautiful! Your partner is very lucky. I haven't tried clam shells yet, but a cushion seems to be a good way to start.

Gorgeous-Clam shells are my favourite paper pieced design. Your bright colours certainly make it sparkle!

This pillow looks great. What a great way to try a new technique. This is a much more manageable size than a quilt. Love the fabrics.

Wow! I don't know if I could handle the piecing of the curves but what a pretty pillow. Your partner will love it.

Mary this is so beautiful! Did you hand applique your clamshells. I love making them but they do take some time. Fantastic!
