This past weekend I attended our FIFTH annual bloggers quilt retreat and I have to say they just keep getting better! This is a retreat that started with none of us knowing each other except through our blogs AND now we are best friends.
On the design wall behind us is one of the quilts I worked on.
One of our best friends lost her husband during the past year so we surprised her with a comfort quilt made by the rest of the group.
I was lucky enough to give her an additional hug in person!
We also have a tradition of bringing a little something for everyone and this year I made a Wonderland fabric mosaic sleeping bag pouch (tutorial at www.aylin-Nilya.blogspot.de).
Here it is with some of the other surprise gifts:
Here is a quilt top I completed. The fabric is all Tule by Leah Duncan for Art Gallery Fabrics and the pattern is Arithmetic by Jeni Baker of In Color Order:
We already have next year's retreat planned. Here was the countdown days with a friends quilt in the background:

what great fun! I wish I had the same here. It's just me, myself, and I most times.
How fun! I haven't met any bloggers in my area either.. but I do go to a retreat with non-blogging friends. ;-) Have a great weekend!
I always wondered how your retreat got started...always looks like so much fun!!!
I also wondered how this group started! It looks like a very special time for you all!
Gosh I've missed reading your blog for several posts--you've been busy! Your retreat group looks so nice--would love to have a group of friends like that. And you have some awfully cute little people in your life!
Great photos Mary.
Bloggers and a retreat makes for a great time, I can see by the smiles on your faces that it was fun.
Lovely cuddle quilts for your dear blogging friend.

It looks like a great time. It's wonderful that you have managed to pull everyone together for the fun.
Wonderful Mary. I'm glad you ladies stay close : )
This is a lovely way to get together. The quilt for your friend is lovely. Such a special gift.
Love all the little items each person made.
The quilt top you completed is lovely, too.
You all seem to have such a blast together! I do love hearing about the yearly adventure...
Such fun . . . I see a few MidCentury ladies in there. Are you going to QuiltCon because I'd love to meet you in person?
It was a wonderful weekend, wasn't it Mary?! I can't believe this was our FIFTH year together. I feel so lucky to have such a special group of friends. I already can't wait till next year's retreat. Thank you so much for the wonderful zip bag and homemade caramels. It was great fun watching you work on your quilt projects, and seeing your beautiful show-and-tell projects.
Such a special time for you-all to get together, and what a great tradition you've made of it. The quilt you made for Doris is simply gorgeous! I'm sure it means a lot to her, and will make her smile every time she looks at it. So happy for all of you to share these friendships. You're very fortunate and blessed.
What a lot of fun!
We all are jealous of your yearly retreat....it looks like such fun, Mary! I see some familiar faces and admire the pretty quilt for Doris.
Hi Mary! I lost you when I moved over to bloglovin. It was fun to catch up with all your posts. Love the retreat post and the apple core behind all your pals.
