All is well in AZ

We arrived in AZ on Friday.  Things were delayed due to TWO root canals - mine!

I worked on embroidery the whole road trip but a not able to show that yet.
Here is what I'm working on now (when we're not out enjoying the weather):

The pattern is Geranium Baskets by Primitive Gatherings.
I did a little pre-work before we hit the road, so it's going pretty well.  I hope to have this finished before we head for Texas on Thursday already.

My New Wallet

The one thing I wanted to get made for ME before we travel is a new wallet.
I found this tutorial by Confessions of a Fabraholic that included everything I was looking for: zip pocket, room for credit cards and pocket for cash.

Here is my finished wallet:

It's not perfect (rabbits could have been centered better, zipper is rippled and some stitches aren't even) but it will do the job!
It's 7 1/4" by 3 3/4".

+++++++++++
Please stop by Sew We Quilt tomorrow (Thursday, January 12th) when I will be guest blogging about another use for a tool I talked about before!!

Tah Dah!!

Tah Dah!

Birdie Stitches is put together.  I won't be quilting it for a while because we are heading South next week and will be gone almost two months.  I won't be taking this with me.

I decided on a patchwork border and love how it looks.  Can't wait to get this quilted.

Final Birdie Stitches (plus one)

My method of embroidering the Birdie Stitches block is to cut the square of fabric, trace the pattern, embroider and then add the patchwork around the edge.
Well, that is what I did for December's block and was NOT happy, so I did it over and here is my finished result:
Now I'll show you my first attempt:

Those birdies were not happy with their tails pinched off!!!
I'm all set to put this quilt together!! Yahoo!!

Thank you Corey of Little Miss Shabby for a great BOM!

A New Year

January is my month in the Two's Company Quilt Bee and here is the block I chose:

I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I get the other eleven blocks back, but with your help, I'll come up with something.
I just always wanted a red and white quilt and not necessarily a traditional block, so this Circle of Geese by Piece by Number is it!  I pre-washed Kona Red and Kona white before I sent it out to my bee members.

These Gadget Bags by Natalie Lymer have been on my to do list for a few years...even before I got back into embroidery.
My friend Darlene of Quilting Daze offered AND did the embroidery for me!!!

The fabric I used with them is Sugar and Spice by Riley Blake.  Doesn't it go great with the embroidery design and floss colors.
Thank you again Darlene.

I made another set of bean bags and bag to carry them in for our grandson Patrick:

These bean bags are a tutorial found here at Chez Beeper Bebe.

The bag is the Lined Drawstring Bag from In Color Order and the tutorial is found here.
