Something Fishy

That's the name of this table runner/wall hanging I finished yesterday: Something Fishy by Pieced Tree patterns:

I rarely use batiks, but I really can't think of anything else that would look right with this pattern.

I just stitched in the ditch around all the fish - do you think I should do more quilting?

It's a gift that I can check off my list!

Ah! That is so cute Mary! What a fun little gift for someone. I love the batiks you used. I think a little echo stitching might be good if you wanted to do a little more quilting on it.

You could do some scallops for scales and wavy lines for water, but it does look great the way it is too! Batiks were a perfect choice :-)

Those fabrics are fabulous for those fishies! I had some fishies embroidered on the memory quilt I made, and I quilted little bubbles in the "water" around them...but I don't know if yours needs another thing - it's great!

how cute! i agree- just a bit more quilting would be good...but i am THE dense kwilter.

if you made two 'tails' and sewed one to each end of the 'head' it would look like wrapped candy....imagine the 'body' a bright polka dot and the two 'tales' could be stripes!

Some cute pebble quilting in the background would look like bubbles. The batiks are perfect for fish...well done!

Beautiful runner and I think batiks were perfect for it! I have a tendency to do too much quilting but I think something in the background would really set it off.

I agree with those that said you could put some more quilting on it. I like the scales and even eyes if you wanted. But once you do that to one fishy then you have to do it to all! So you could leave it alone as well.

The echo quilting was also a nice idea. Those designs on the fabric are calling to me to do something with them. Batiks are always so much fun to work with. I am sure whoever receives this will enjoy it. K-
