When I was in Florida in October, my sister and I came across an estate sale. Even though I have not even looked at vintage linens in the past, I bought these for a very reasonable price.
This first one is the reason I wanted the stack:
This is a full size 100% cotton border print flat sheet! I'm thinking a sundress for Audrey in a few years???
++++++
Backing and blocks for a future dream on quilt?
+++++
These are two full flat 100% cotton sheets with this border and the ticking stripe.
+++++
On the left a soft dogwood vine full flat sheet that would look great with pastel quilt. And on the right some bright floral pillowcases.
What do you think? Do you ever buy vintage linens? Are these vintage? Would you use them with your quilts?

Pauline and I have been frequenting the Salvation Army looking for wool(we got 15 wool blazers for $15 this weekend!!) and for vintage linens. I have found some amazing sheets and pillowcases. I plan on using them in my quilts. There is a Vintage Sheet blog too that has some great projects you may want to check them out. Even a pillowcase dress, (for Audrey??)and an adorable ruffled bed cover. Have fun with that!!
They are beautiful!
I've never worked with vintage linens, but I like what people have posted that they've done with them.
I buy things like this all the time and think it's great fun. I especially like that first one! Great find!
Very pretty - I haven't bought any, but I'd use them in a quilt - and I love the sundress idea, too!
I love making things out of vintage linens and wool, anything that has a second chance to life is worth it, don't you think? So good to have a little bit of time and catch up with everyone. Hope your Holiday's were blessed ones. Now to keep on reading...

Oh...I just love these vintage linens...
Oh yes...I love vintage table cloths. The texture is so fabulous. Lately I have been scooping up old feed sacks to cut up and use in quilts...love them!
I go to estate sales far too often... I don't know if they're vintage, but I have a small stack of pillowcases that I just adore.
I have picked up some here and there. some are too pretty to cut up!! I save the twin size for my daughters bed..but have used a few for backs.what you picked up are very pretty!
Yes I buy vintage linens whenever I can find them. We used to find them at the thrift stores all the time, but lately they are few and far between. I do want to make a quilt with my vintage sheets.
OOOhhh... mary i have an entire 60 gallen tub of these puppies!!! i'd ship them all to ya if i could figure out to do it cheeply!! then they would finely get the attention they deserve!
happy new year!!

you did good Mary. I use vintage linens all the time and cotton tablecloths are so perfect for backing especially if I am just making a wall quilt.
I love vintage linens....they are so fun to re-use. I sometimes use them for back in small projects, or doll dresses....or even a dress for Audrey will be fun! I still use the table cloths on my table....I love to iron and starch them!
I haven't used any vintage linens.......but why not give it a try? Even if it doesn't end up being your favorite quilt, it will be fun to try something new.....or old as they are vintage linens ;)
These are treasures really. I love them all. That first sheet is a super find.
Wow! I think you hit the jackpot! They are all lovely!
Oh, I love vintage sheets. Those are awesome! If you don't want to cut them up, use one for a quilt backing.
They are all gorgeous finds. I never buy because they get snapped up here at goodwill by people trying to resell at markets.
I love textiles of all sorts! If I buy bed linens I normally use them on the bed:) I have seen a lot of quilters using them in their quilts though.
You found some great linens. I know there are some blogs dedicated to using sheets in quilts. Seen them while surfing. I look for vintage sheets but the ones I have found are so faded and ratty.
Never even thought of collecting these and I won't. I can't start a new collection. LOL! but I love the first one and the dress for Audrey idea is FAB!
I have picked up a couple here and there and have in a stack in the closet. I was interested to see what others had to say becuase I am tenative to use in a quilt, but, I guess they are just as sturdy as the voile that is being used.
I love vintage linens and you have some great finds!! Some say that the cotton sheets are too heavy for quilting but I say if it works for you, then create to your heart's content! :-)
Love, love, love your vintage linens, you lucky girl!
Oh, you found some nice ones! I really like the poppy pillowcases in the last photo.
You'll have fun with those. :-)
Kimberly
