Happy May Day (almost)!

I made this May Day basket for my Mom tonight.  I used the tutorial from Sandi at A Legacy of Stitches.
 Thank you Sandi.

haven't made a May Basket in years, but I thought my Mom could use one to cheer her up.  She's alone after 68 years of marriage.
I have some white tulips and a few special candies to include.
I will hang it on her door knob in the morning.

Yesterday I forgot to say that I had a little visitor this week.  Jordyn (my great-niece) came to spend the day on Monday and we had a lot of fun.

She's growing up too fast.

And Audrey is three weeks old already.
Here she is with Grandpa.

Jelly Roll Quilt Along block five & lots more

Just finished block five with Simple Abundance and I really like this one.
Edit: Now look at that picture = duh = put the block together wrong!!

I also finished all twelve towels for the towel swap I am participating in and they are ready to mail tomorrow.

I will show the towels once everyone has received theirs.

 **************
I won a great give away from Heather from Quilting Like Crazy, this awesome bag:

Thank you so much Heather, I love it!
****************

Then I received a very special surprise package in the mail today from a sweet blogging friend, Betsy of Quilting Fiesta.

It had the cutest card and the package tied in a Mode ribbon and a few cute baby buttons tied on.
And this is what was this in the package:

Betsy explained that she made this cute bag for me to use when I am out and about with my new granddaughter Audrey!
Betsy really understands how special being a Grandmother is to me.
Thank you again Betsy.
**************
And then I won this lovely Heavenly Angel embroidery pattern from Nina Lise at Mrs. Moen :

Photo is from Mrs. Moen blog as I haven't made it yet, but expect to make some Christmas gifts using this design.

etc.

I spent time this week on a project that has something to do with quilt market in Minneapolis coming up next month.  It's been a blast and I'll tell you more later.
**
I've been stitching a project that I can't show either.  It is my month coming up to send out a package to eleven of my swap partners and I think they are turning out pretty cute!
**
Then, I've been continuing to hand stitch on the project I started on the road trip.  I'm nearly finished and want to wait to show you the completed project.
**
Lucky for you, I do have a recent photo of little Audrey!!

Audrey is two weeks old and wearing a hand dyed onsie from Judi of Judi's Crazy World that I got long before Audrey was born.  Isn't it cute?

Tote Bag (aka Kimberly Bag) Complete

I am so happy I signed up for this Sew Party because if I hadn't I wouldn't have this cute bag complete.  It's the Kimberly Bag by Amy Butler out of Nigella by Amy Butler for Rowan Fabrics.

Thank you Kris and Kelly!

Last Update for Tonight on Tote Bag Sewing Party

Okay, it has handles, a zipper and lining (but no bottom) so I'm calling it a night!

I'll be finishing this tomorrow afternoon!  Good Night all of my sewing partners!

Progress Report for Tote Bag Sewing Party

My Kimberly Bag is coming together.  I'm so glad I signed up for this. In case you don't remember, I won this pattern and fabric from Julie at Jewel's Arm Candy in December and am just getting to sew it now.

This bag has fusible interfacing, fusible fleece AND fusible Peltex, so LOTS of pieces and lots of instruction reading and re-reading.
Oh yes, and as I explained to Kris, I'm late getting started because I HAD to go visit that grand-baby this morning.  She needed a kiss.

Tote Bag Sewing Party

My project isn't a "tote" bag, but the "Kimbery Bag" from Amy Butler.

Let's get started!!

Friday Night Sew-in finishes

Yay, I finished the bath set for Audrey:

And a set of Gnome place-mats for a gift:

Can't get these turned right, but I did some hand quilting, maybe they need more.

Friday Night Sew In

Time for the Friday Night Sew-in!

I have this idea for a bath set for my new granddaughter.  First I have some beautiful white, soft, cotton stretch terry.  Then I have another great piece of Bubble Gum Basics in pink and white:

I think they will be perfect for a hooded towel and matching wash cloth.

The Itty Bitty,,,,

Ever since I first saw the Itty Bitty Baby Dress pattern (FREE) from Made by Rae, I had it in the back of my mind that it would be my first granddaughter's first dress.  Thank you Rae!!! The pattern is awesome.  I used the "newborn" size which is for 7 to 8 pounds.  Audrey just went back over 6 pounds!

Well, time was "awastin' " - Audrey is almost six days old, so I finished it this morning:

I used "Bubblegum Basics" by Barbara Jones of QuiltSoup for Henry Glass that I had on hand for just such an occasion.

And an update on Audrey and family: they were released from the hospital yesterday afternoon and we brought dinner over last night (and got a few peeks of the little angel).

Jelly Roll Quilt Along Block Three

I finished my third block for the Jelly Roll Quilt Along a day early.  That was a great accomplishment considering I was out of town for nearly three weeks and arrived home to my first grandbaby!

And here are the first three blocks:

Shout it from the rooftops!!!

I'm a Grandma!!

Baby Audrey was born four weeks early on Thursday.  Nathan called me early that morning and we were still in Texas!!  We hit the road, arrived in Minneapolis and here I am with Nathan holding Audrey before she was 24 hours old.
Audrey weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and has black hair.  Hopefully she will be going home today.
I am so happy!!
Congratulations Nathan and Kara!

Easter Afternoon Walk

Here are the phone camera photos I took while walking around my MIL's neighborhood this afternoon:
If you look midway up on the second palm tree from the left on the following photo, you will see a great horned owl and it's baby in the nest!  Click on it to zoom in and you will see the lighter colored baby with big dark eyes.
Hope you had a wonderful day.
