Catch up post!

I've never gone this long before without posting to my blog. I have to fix that!

Just sent this November Mid-Century bee block off to Elizabeth.

The October bee block may be part of an upcoming new pattern!

I've received all of my bee block and need to decide how to use them / finish into a project.

Aren't they gorgeous?

I made this Anna Maria horner Lemondrops pattern using her knit fabric to make myself a top.

It's so comfy I ordered fabric to make another.

We've had the best sunsets lately.

We're almost to the end of our traveling quilt bee. Here is a Waterlouge. Peek of Katie's.

These are turning out so beautiful - I can't wait to see mine!

I finished a commission t-shirt quilt and pillowcase for a friend.

This is a photo I took on our last pontoon outing of the season.

 

Now I'm working on three quilts that are in some state of completion! Be back soon!

Around The World Blog Hop

Welcome to my little part of the world in the Around The World Blog Hop.

I was asked to join in by my friend Cindy of Live A Colorful Life. We meet here in Minnesota every summer for a retreat. Go check out her blog - she has many astonishing creations!

Now for the reason you may be here visiting - the blog hop.

These are the questions I was asked to answer:

1. What am I working on?

I just finished the first of three Halloween Costumes - one of my favorite sewing projects. I made many for my children and now I am making them for my grandchildren. Here is one of my favorites - a garden gnome costume for Audrey a few years ago.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Well genre seems like a word a little extravagant to be used in a sentence about my creations. My description of the differences would include that I like to sew everything: quilts,bags, garments,costumes, table coverings,wall hangings; I like almost every different type and color of fabric; I can be working on EPP, costume design and wonky patchwork at the same time. What I guess I'm trying to say - I love variety!

3. Why do I create what I do?

I create because it is a part of who I am and it makes me happy!

I have asked Karen of Badlands Quilts to join this blog hop. Karen and I have followed each other's blogs for quite a while and we both belong to the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild. I enjoy seeing Karen's style of putting great fabrics together in her projects.

I also asked Michele of Island Life Quilts to join in on the fun. Michele and I have also followed each other's blogs for some time. I admire Michele's somewhat classic style without being afraid of using beautiful colors.

Home Town Pouch etc.

I finished the Home Town Pouch and sent it off to be used as a sample at Quilt Market in Houston next month.

Although time consuming, it was lots of fun to make. The front design is both pieced and appliquéd. The front, back and bottom are hand quilted.

The zipper is set in by hand. The finished size is 4 3/4" X 6 1/4". The pattern is by Yoko Saito and the fabric is her 25th line with Lecien.

I had to make a Frog Prince Bapron for Brandon - he is nearly seven months old and liking every new taste he tries.

Rummage

This summer I tested a pattern for Stephanie Dunphy http://stephaniedunphy.blogspot.com/ that will soon be released. It is called Rummage.

I have only finished the quilt top so far and plan to hand quilt it. Here is a shot of it on my clothes line:

It kind of looks like stained glass with the sun shining through it. It is made of vintage fabric prints (some shared with me by Stephanie for testing the pattern) and Kona cotton in Snow.

And now for another shot to show the pattern:

Sewing Fun

I tested a great pattern for Aylin-Nilya called Diamond in Diamond:

It is a 25" square and I plan on hand quilting it for a wall hanging.

You can find where to purchase the very versatile pattern at the above link to her blog. The embroidery is a free design from Nana Company.

I worked on some Scrappy Trip blocks at retreat this weekend and will be doing a little demo at our Modern quilt guild this week:

I started working on a Home Town Pouch pattern by Yoko Saito sample for Quilt Market:

I didn't finish at retreat because I didn't bring hand quilting supplies. The finished size is 4 3/4" X 6 1/4".

I also started putting the rows together on my Briar Rose apple cores:

Someone mentioned they looked giant and they had never seen such big apple core pieces - these are 6 1/4" cut with the Accuquilt Go! Baby.

Where have I been?

Summer has flown by. I've been doing lots do sewing and lots of time with my grandchildren.

I completed two more blocks for Skill Builder BOM:

This double inset circle took time to get centered. I can tell from this photo that I quilted one side with my old glasses and one side with my new ones! Oops!

I'm still not caught up but closer!

These are the blocks for August Mid Century Modern Bee. Mary has the best idea for a sweet quilt.

My month is September for out Mid Century Modern Bee and I choose the Union Jack block using the tutorial by Molli Sparkles .

I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 22 to receive her new Lemondrops pattern and new knit fabric in a "trade off". She just asked for a photo of my model wearing the dress for her use. Thank you again Anna Maria.

I actually had enough fabric for two dresses - this size 4T for Audrey and another in size 7/8! I am not paid to say this but I highly recommend both the pattern and fabric!

And the photo below represent what I've spent a LOT of my time on - some secret sewing that included lots and lots of trimming 2" HST's!! You will see photos of the whole quilt one day!
