Not quilts

I've finished a few more fun projects.
Finally made Noodlehead's great pattern: Divided Basket.
I was able to use all the fabrics from Brandon's nursery. Oh yes, I finally took a photo to show you:
I finished a zipper pouch made out of Japanese fabric which I backed with both Pellon 101 and fusible fleece.
The size is perfect for either a knitting project or a travel shoe bag.
Brandon is already a month old!

I haven't been feeling the best and I got the cutest card from Audrey, Vince and family:

I prefer cottons, but back before I "knew better" I made my first quilt with satin polyester crepe! :)
Thanks for the giveaway.

Thomas Knauer's "Modern Quilt Perspectives" Book Blog Tour and Giveaway

I'm excited to be part of the Book Blog Tour introducing Thomas Knaur's Modern Quilt Perspectives to the world.  First of all I would like to say that this book is so much more that quilt patterns.  It asks the question of why quilts and will get you thinking before you make your next quilt!

Another reason I'm excited is that I pieced the cover quilt: You Are Here! The first time I saw You Are Here was chosen as the cover girl, I very happy.  Didn't Thomas design a fabulous quilt?  It is made out of Essex Cotton/Linen blend and had great texture, but nothing like after Lisa finished quilting it. Here is a photo after quilting but before the binding:

I also pieced Answer Key which is a table runner done using the reverse applique technique:

This was before it was quilted.  It was also made out of Essex linen/cotton and the reverse applique circles are Kona.  The colorful circles are Liberty Lifestyle.  You have to read the story behind this one!  I think I'll be making it for my table.

And now what you've been waiting for - the giveaway. I will be drawing a name from all comments left on this post telling me if you have sewn with anything other than quilting cotton.  Entries are open until Saturday March 29th.  The winner will be announced on my blog and I will email the winner.  That means if you are a "no-reply blogger" and don't leave an email address in the comment another name will be chosen.

Keep following the blog tour (posted below) and check out previous posts to see more from the book!

AccuQuilt Go Baby Clamshell

I was able to kill two birds with one stone...so to speak. I was sent the AccuQuilt Go Baby 4" Clamshell die to try and the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild that I belong asked us to "challenge yourself" with some beauitful Monoluna Meadow fabric. I made this wall hanging:

I was unsuccessful at machine piecing, so I sewed a thin fusible to the back, trimmed the seam allowance, turned and then fused to muslin. I finished with a machine blanket stitch.

Another finish this week is the March block for the Mid Century Modern Bee. This was Cindy's choice and I love the result:

The tutorial can be found here.

Pillow Pair

I finished this pair of pillows this week and named them Tula and Melody!
This one is EEP fabric from the Birds and Bees line by Tula Pink:
I machine quilted it with 12 wt. Aurifil and was very happy with the stitching.
This pillow is from a pannel of Melody Miller's Ruby Star Spring 2011:

I cross stitched the printed bee pattern with no. 8 perle cotton:
I was lucky enough to spend the day with baby Brandon Wednesday:
Isn't he just the sweetest? Oh yes, I made the blanket he is wrapped in out of the beautiful orange strawberry print jersey knit from the Briar Rose line by Heather Ross and backed it with Cuddle by Shannon Fabrics in tomato color.

New Grandbaby

Yes, I am happy, happy Grandma to new grand baby number SEVEN! My daughter and her husband had their first baby Friday.

Here I am at the hospital with Brandon James:

He is first of all completely healthy and then adorable, sweet and has a headful of hair! Another baby to cuddle and love!!
