It's A Hoot Hat Trick

I was lucky and won the Schnibbles Hat Trick pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. from Sinta Renee at Pink Pincushion.
This happens to be the Vintage Schnibble for April AYOS.
I try to make these when I have time, but it's been a while.

Here is my Hat Trick:

I had two charm packs and some yardage of It's A Hoot by MoMo for Moda; I was waiting to use on the right project and I think this is it.

I quilted it with hearts all over because I thought it was so sweet.  The binding is a DS Quilts vague stripe with a dot.
It is so fun to do some piecing with little squares and lots of seam matching for a change.

Pencil Case and Caity Did Pattern Winner

I came across this great tutorial on Pink Penguin blog for a "stylish pen case" and I had to make it:

I am lucky to have inherited a wonderful recycled wool stash. The red wool used for this pencil case was a coat that I felted in my washing machine.

The case is 9 inches long and 3 inches wide.

I used fabric from my scrap bin for the strips on the front and the lining.

And now for the winner of the Caity Did bag pattern.  Using Random Number Generator the winner is #65 Deb!  I just sent you an email and your e-pattern will be sent to you directly from Loft Creations.  Thank you to everyone that entered.

Bloglovin'

It seems like the thing to do...

....click HERE to follow my blog on Bloglovin'!!!!

And here is what it looked like from my breakfast table looking out over the snow and ice covered lake through the snow covered tree branches.  Isn't it pretty?

Yes, the table on the deck was cleared from Saturday before this came overnight.

Caity Did Bag and Giveaway!

I tested this super cute bag pattern - Caity Did - for Stephanie at Loft Creations.

I used a Japanese print linen blend for my bag with a few scraps from my stash.  It was a little tricky matching the print but it worked out.   I did straight line quilting all around the bag front feature and like the look. The interfacing is Soft and Stable and this is a great product for this (and many other) bag(s).

Here is the pattern cover of Stephanie's Caity Did:

One of you can win a PDF of Caity Did by leaving a comment telling me your favorite flower to plant in the spring.

I will leave the giveaway open until the end of my day on Friday and notify the winner after that.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck in the drawing.

No coffee on the deck this morning....

We seem to have a problem switching over to spring - someone forgot to hit the right button.

Out the window of my sewing room just with what came off the roof.

I had six fat quarters of Salt Air left and used it to make a set of napkins since I am using the "quilt" as a tablecloth.  Makes me think of spring.  They are laying on the Drunkards Path table quilt.

Lakeside Resort

We are lakeside, but far from a resort.  Eight inches of new snow yesterday and there are still flurries in the air today.

I dug out a layer cake of Lakeside Resort by Holly Taylor for Moda.  The colors are not exactly my style so I sewed it up for another charity quilt:

I've had layer cake size twisting pinwheel tool forever and thought this would be a good time to give it a try.  The top is 61" X 61" and ready to quilt.

Audrey turned three this week and I tried to get a photo of us this morning, but she wanted nothing to do with it, so I took this one of mostly Vincent and a little of me.

And the snowstorm is very pretty, but I'm ready for spring.  Here is how Mother Nature frosted the trees outside our door.

Bee Blocks and Name Tag Swap

I just finished these two blocks for Carla.  They are for the April Mid-Century Modern Bee.  Carla gave a big range for her requirements so here is what she is getting:

This is six inch finished and was made using template from Amy's Creative Side Dancing Stars.  So fun to make, but Carla asked for text background so I'm sending this one too:
I'll be making more of these for myself for some kind of project.

And the MMQG is having a name tag swap and I received Carrie's name.  All she required was a pin on tag so here is what I made for her:

Happy Granny

I just finished the quilting and binding on my Charity Contest entry for Quilts for Kids using Happy Town by Jacquelynne Steves for Henry Glass.

I named it Happy Granny because of the Granny Squares (from this Moda Bake Shop recipe) and the fabric is Happy Town!

It will go in the mail tomorrow.  Here is another photo:

I cut the vertical prints for the borders and the great stripe for the binding.

Entries must be received by April 15th and all quilts will become property of Quilts For Kids to be distributed to children in hospitals around the United States and the Caribbean.
