Bloggers Quilt Festival - Bliss Between Friends

My entry in Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival for Fall 2011 is Bliss Between Friends.

I made this quilt for my Mom this past Christmas to try to brighten up a bedroom left dreary by her losing my Dad, her husband of 68 years, less than a year earlier.

The above photo was the only one taken outside and was before the border was added or the quilting completed, but it shows the Bliss colors the best.
Here is the finish:

I added a solid red binding and backing.

I also made a solid red bed skirt and window valances.

The pattern is "Between Friends" by Darlene of Quilting Daze.

Go visit all the other quilts in the Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2011!
Thanks again Amy!

What a beautiful quilt Mary. And how wonderful that your parents were married for 68 years. I'm truly sorry for you and your mother about the loss of your father, but what wonderful role models you had. Please hug your mother for me, and let her know that I think she is a very special lady who has a very talented daugher too!

I'm sure she loves this quilt you made for her.

Big Hug.

I'm having a hard time working my way through this festival but I'm so glad I kept going because I would have felt bad if I missed this one. Those fabrics must have been made with each other in mind, they go so well together.
