Friday Night Catch Up

I used my Friday night to catch up on the Jelly Roll Quilt Along and the Designer Mystery BOM.

I think the floral fabric was too large of print and I could have arranged the colors better, but I like the block pattern.  Maybe I'll try another one with different fabric now that I see the photo.

This Designer Mystery Block of the Month was a lot of fun to make:

I actually followed another blogger's (was it you?) tip and made two of each block since there was enough fabric:

And of course, it's much easier to make two at the same time rather than come back a month later and make the second one.  This is the first BOM that I've purchased and I'm very happy with the pattern, fabric and results.

Love U

I just finished a baby quilt that I will be giving the Mom-to-be at her baby shower on Saturday.

The quilt is really not as wonky as it looks laying in the yard.

She's been waiting and wanting this baby for a long time.

The charm pack and border are Love U by Deb Strain for Moda.  The small border and backing are Moda Bella Solid in Lime Green.  The binding is Westminster Fibers Jennifer Paganelli Eliza Stripe.
She is hubby's niece and I hope she has a healthy baby and is very happy.

It's Bliss Between Friends!

I finished the top of my Bliss Between Friends quilt today.  The fabric is Bliss by Camille and Bonnie for Moda and the pattern is Between Friends from Darlene of Quilting Daze.  Thank you Camille, Bonnie and Darlene!  I'm really liking this quilt.

You would probably rather see it finished, but I think it deserves a border or two from the Bliss line.  I only have a fat quarter stack from quilt market.
I had some extra help this week putting this quilt top together.

Jordyn came for two days and spent part of the time playing hide and seek behind my sewing cabinet.

After that, we went swimming!

The Gown in Use!

Yesterday was a perfect day.

My granddaughter Audrey was baptized in the gown I made her!
daughter - daughter-in-law - son & son-in-law

She was perfectly behaved as usual.

Her Daddy wanted her to wear her gown the whole day.
She got pretty tuckered out....

...but was still perfect.

Getting Caught Up

Guess what I started today?

All cut up and ready to start sewing:
There are lots of hints in the photo.

Let's just say it's a BBF....yes BBF.

Whew!

I did it!

I finished Audrey's Baptismal Gown!  (Don't look Kara!!)
After a full weekend of hand stitching, the gown, slip, bonnet and bloomers are complete.  The ceremony is on Sunday.  I can't wait to see it on Audrey.

And I finally did some other sewing:
First I finished my number ten Jelly Roll Quilt Along block:

And I made Block One of the Designer Mystery BOM from Fat Quarter Shop using the 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain:

Good thing too that I finished it - Block two arrived in the mail today!

Now on to some other fun sewing!  Have a great week.

Where have I been?

I haven't been sewing garments for YEARS (except for the Itty Bitty dress for Audrey) and here is what I've been doing for the past week:

It's an Old Fashioned Baby Christening Gown for Audrey and it hasn't been completed yet.  Plus I still need to make the slip and bonnet.  The fabric is Batiste and there are things like "entredeux", "lace insertion" and embroidery that includes "bullion stitch", "feather stitch" and "pinstitch."

Baptism is July 18th - I can do it!

++++++++++++
We had a great weekend.  Audrey had her first exposure to the pontoon and the lake on Saturday.  She loved it.  Mommy and Daddy had a chance to get in a good swim while Audrey slept and I held her.

Then on Sunday our guests decorated the pontoon and we were in the boat parade.

My niece looked pretty cute!

 So did my brother!

Now back to sewing!
