Perfect Summer Day

In the last 24 hours:

- Picked enough raspberries (red and golden) for the two of us for dinner tonight
- Hung the sheets out on the clothesline and they flapped in the wind and dried in two hours
- Went swimming in the middle of the lake (the best swim of the summer)
- Took a sunset cruise with my husband on the pontoon
- Watched a bald eagle fly by
- Took a paddle boat ride in the early morning with no one else on the lake
- Put two borders on my Geese in the Forrest quilt

Life is SO good.

Little Houses Doll Quilt

I tested some paper piecing patterns for Katie of See Katie Sew and figured I might as well put the blocks together for a doll quilt. It is 17" by 20". Katie has these house patterns for sale on her etsy shop.

I had a lot of fun going through my scraps to find the combination for the houses. Katie did a great job on these.

What cuts into my sewing time (all good).

First I made 14 jars of raspberry jelly for gifts.

And then this little cutie (my great-niece Jordyn) came to spend the afternoon and evening. We had so much fun.

Fun Bag

I made this bag last weekend but ran out of thread before I finished top-stitching the straps. The grids take a lot of thread but was fun to do. I lined the bag with fabric I won from Sandy's Patchwork Angel. Isn't it awesome? The pattern is Grids & Grommets from Indygo Junction. This is one large bag and will hold a lot.

Essential Water

Broken water pipe = 24 hours without water + this in your yard at 7:15 A.M.!! Of course they hit the electrical line to the garage so we get an electrician bill too!
But yeah, we have water again!! (And lots of landscaping to fix.)

Fun Stuff

Some may say I'm lucky....some may say I spend too much time reading blogs of generous quilters!!

Kay of All About Applique asked for funny family stories that you would like to commemorate in a quilt and I won the Mermaids Like Margaritas with Salt book, bookmark and magnet!

Kelly of Don't Look Now had a drawing for one of her cute pillow patterns (How Does Your Garden Grow) and I won!

Kim of Kim's Big Quilting Adventure was cleaning her sewing room and had a drawing for a lot of books and patterns and I won this one! Sorry about the up-side down photo - you can tell it is a house sampler quilt.

Kris of Dandelion Quilts had an awesome drawing for her readers for some cute fat quarters including Paddington Bear! Hopefully one of our four married children will soon give me a reason to make a baby quilt!

And lastly Linda of Thistledown & Co. had a give away for a Halloween fat quarter plus some fall wool felt! Guess what, I won!

Thank you again to all of theses generous bloggers with these awesome giveaways!

Matching Pillow Cases

I had some Red Letter Day fabric and the scraps from the squares left from my unique quilt made on the Old Red Barn Quilt Along so I made matching pillow cases. One already flew back to Charleston with my daughter, but the other one and the quilt are here until we drive there for Thanksgiving.
