My First Quilt

Camile and Carrie have a thing going about first quilts called the Parade of Quilts.
Quilt "A" which was made about 1972! See those colors, the yarn ties and the puffy polyester batting.

Quilt "B" - Starry Nights which I finished last week.
What I learned along the way between "A" and "B" - Quilt "A" IS NOT A QUILT!!!

WOW - look how far you have come - I hope to one day be where you are - what an inspiration to keep going!!!

Mary ~ But I like Quilt A! Okay, so I like Quilt B better... but I still like it. :)

You know, I don't think I've ever made a tied quilt! Of course, with the machine-quilting job I did on a few of mine, I probably should have considered it. :)

And Heather's right ~ you and your quilts are definitely an inspiration to keep going!

Well, I guess it is how you look at things. At the time, Quilt A was a quilt. But boy have you progressed! I just love Starry Nights!

Maty both are pretty . I have never tied a quilt. Your present quilt is spectacular enough to win a contest.

I love your first quilt, Mary - it's sure a quilt to me - but look how far you've come - don't you love it?
Cheers!

Mary,
You did a good job on your first quilt and boy have you mastered and honed your skills over the years.

Quilt B is fantastic (beautiful pattern and really gorgeous fabric selection) but surely Quilt A is a quilt, too? A really down home cuddle up and use me quilt. Still, isn't it nice to really be able to SEE what we've learned over the years?

I'm not sure what is more impressive, your second quilt, or the fact that you still have your first quilt from 1972! Okay, pretty sure the second quilt wins that battle. It is amazing!

Thanks for joining in!

How great to see your first quilt. At the time I bet you thought that pattern was hard but now you probably think it would be a piece of cake to make. My first quilt was a bow tie pattern which is on my header in the left corner.
You have become an expert quilter because your header quilt and your recent quilt are awesome.

I am impressed that you still have your first quilt! Your last quilt is gorgeous!

Oh! Your first quilt was made about the same time as mine! And I know you are thinking because it was knotted and not actually quilted that it isn't a quilt.. but I read somewhere that it still is. We always called them comforters though. :-) I love both of them!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your quilts! And I'm finding a common thread of tied first quilts in this parade...it's definitely a great way to start and get it finished quickly and easily!

Isn't it wonderful that we have grown and continue to produce even better quilts. Your header got a "Ooo and Ahh" when I opened your blog.

I tied quilts in high school too but I didn't think to include them! I really love the final quilt. It's beautiful and I love the colors. You really do fine work. Cindy

I'm loving all the 70s and 80s quilts made with all the calico fabrics! Your first quilt is very sweet. Your latest quilt is amazing, though! Very rich and elegant.

I love the quilt on your header it is amazing!! I grew up tying quilts, or shall we say blankets. I am just starting to understand all the quilt lingo and think it is very interesting what you can do with a sewing machine.
