Shop Hop Fun

Our quilt guild and friends totaling around forty people shop hopped for the entire day today. We had great shop hosts at all the shops with some great specials, baked treats and door prizes. We stopped for a yummy lunch and traveled in style in a tour bus. We had prize drawings during the entire trip too!
Of course, I picked up a few things including some Crazy Eight fat quarters and some vintage look ornament stitchery kits and all the floss I need. I am trying to be better prepared to take stitching with me when I know I will be sitting and waiting.

My Niece Got Married on Saturday

It was a perfect day; got to see lots of family and my parents (age 89 & 90) were able to attend and still celebrate their 68th anniversary the next day!

What would you do?

I just remembered this quilt I made five years ago after I posted the photo of my daughter's dog. I gave my daughter this quilt and last year her dog ate a six inch hole in of the middle of it. It was a gift and I did not get upset with her as she is an adult, but I am having a difficult time of ever giving her another quilt.

Has anyone else ever had this issue and how did you handle it? She is my only daughter.

Abby in her Shabby Chic Collar

A few weeks ago I posted that I won a dog collar and cell phone case from Joan at Linden Line Design. Well, when I signed up for that give away, I had my daughter's dog, Abby in mind. Here is a photo of her in her Shabby Chic collar.

Sew Domestic Studio Blog Tour

Kristina at Sew Domestic is hosting a studio blog tour. Go see other studios (including hers) at Sew Domestic.

I've never considered my space a "studio" and you may think I chose the wrong photo for this post.

a. What do you use your space for? My "studio" looks like this because my MIL just left this A.M. to return to Phoenix after her visit and my sister and BIL from Texas are coming this evening to stay. Yes, my "studio" is also the guest bedroom.

b. What is your favorite thing about your space? I like the proximity to the rest of the house so I am not off where I don't know what's going on.

c. What struggles do you have with your space? As mentioned, it is also the guest bedroom, so no quilting or scrap booking happens when we have guests (being on the lake we have frequent summer guests).

d. When do you use your space? I use my space whenever it is available.

e. Share an organizational technique that works for you. Since we have one king size bed and one queen size bed, under bed storage containers with wheels work great. I have most of my stash and WIP stored under these two beds.

New Pin Cushion

I am the owner of the cutest pin cushion every. You see, there was this drawing at Bloom Creek for six beautiful pin cushions made by Vicki. And surprise, surprise - my name was drawn and Vicki mailed off my favorite - the pastel 30's print with hexagons! All of the stitches are so tiny and the pin cushion is filled with ground walnut shells so it is just the right weight to stay where I want it.
Thank you again Vicki!

My First Quilt

Camile and Carrie have a thing going about first quilts called the Parade of Quilts.
Quilt "A" which was made about 1972! See those colors, the yarn ties and the puffy polyester batting.

Quilt "B" - Starry Nights which I finished last week.
What I learned along the way between "A" and "B" - Quilt "A" IS NOT A QUILT!!!

Old Red Barn Sew Along Quilt is Finished!!

This Sew Along was so fun. Dana at Old Red Barn set things up just great. I started a little late, but no problem because Kathy at Pink Chalk Fabrics has such great service and sent the fabric I ordered in record time. It was such wonderful fabric (Red Letter Day by Lizzy House) to cut and sew and then I came across Marianne from MP Design Studio in the flickr group and she worked out a deal for me to long arm quilt my quilt. She did an awesome job!! I used the lime Ugly Duckling for the back along with some of the short strips that were left over. And now I have this wonderful quilt. Thanks Dana, Kathy, Lizzy and Marianne for your help!
