I am trying to find a way to display this doll quilt made for me by my Maternal Grandmother a long, long time ago. It is not in good condition because my dollies were always cold and needed to be wrapped in this special quilt. My Grandmother has been gone for over 55 years, so it is very special, but I don't want it hid away.
Don't you just love the embroidered rabbits? It's so old that it's new again!

I remember when Mother would embroider quilts for the newest baby ... they are precious & should be shown. I wish I had one of hers. You are very lucky to have such a beauty, & the warm wonderful memories of g'ma.

what a great thing to have! how fabulous! lucky you
That is so very sweet.
That is just SO SPECIAL! I'm like you in that I am inspired by my (much older) relatives. Mine were all on my father's side. My maternal grandmother weasn't very crafty... I think it skipped her generation. But, my maternal grandfather had crafting parents.
Thanks for all of your comments Mary.
I love the quilt! it is wonderful and it is obviously filled with memories.

can you frame it?
Oh my how special! I have seen glass "chests" for displaying quilts somewhere on line. Failing that whatabout cutting a sheet of glass and sandwiching it between it and a table top?
This is such a wonderful memory to have. Not sure how you should preserve it but someone once told me to make an organza sleeve for an old quilt I have to protect it. Hope you put a label on it for the next generation to enjoy your work.
Mary, What a treasure! I would most definitely keep it out, just away from any direct sunlight that would damage the fibers! How great that you still have it!
Cheers!
What a wonderful little treasure attached to so many memories!
I wanted to give you an idea on display..I often use an old, antique window as a frame. If you have a junk-salvage place they often have old windows they take out of places that are odd sized and you might find ont that would work. Just a thought...
I was browsing through your blog and when I saw this doll quilt I just had to comment on it. It is so beautiful and what a treasure you have there. I hope you find a place to display it where all can see it.
