Back in 2000, I was visiting my sister-in-law in Florida and paging through her Fons and Porter's For the Love of Quilting. I stopped dead in my tracks when I came upon Pinwheel Star by Liz Porter. I had never undertaken a quilt with 50 different fabrics, 93" x 112", a partial seam or blocks set on point, but I knew I needed to make this for ME! I still love it now as much as I did when I made it.

Absolutely delightful - this is the second time today I've seen this pattern. Your colors are exactly the ones I love - I've done several quilts in 30s fabrics.

The quilt with the 30's fabric is as sweet as can be.
I love the quilt in your header photo. Must have been a lot of work in that one.
That is so lovely with a great palate of colour which compliments one another. Lovely work-womanship too.

What great colors. I love the stories that go with quilts almost as much as the quilts themselves.
WOWIE, WOWIE, WOWIE!!! Love it!!!!
I really love that quilt. I made the same one but my blocks became 2 smaller quilts.
Wow! I love the colors! What a treasure!

I have always wanted to make this pattern. I saw it in Fons and Porter, too, and fell in love!
What a happy looking quilt, nicely done!
Lovely colours. I can't get over the fact that there are fifty different fabrics in your quilt.
Spectacular quilt...definitely a scrap quilt with 50 different fabrics! This is such a treasure.

Mary, your quilt is gorgeous. These reproduction prints are so appealing. Will have to add this to my stash wish list! Thanks for sharing your quilt!
So pretty! And your points are perfect. Wow.
Your quilt is just beautiful and reminds me of my grandmother as she made lot of "star" quilts too. Did you already have a substantial stash or did you have to purchase 93 new fabrics? :)) The gold you chose really makes the other colors "pop."
Fabulous quilt. Guess what I have some blocks done in the 30's fabric just waiting to be put into a top. I actually got to take the class with them to learn how to make the quilt.
That's a gorgeous assortment of fabrics. I love the vintage style...so pretty!
What a beautiful quilt ~ well done!
Sometimes a quilt just calls you and says MAKE ME NOW! So glad you did, I can only stand back in awe and say Wow!!!!!
Wonderful quilt. I love the look of the Thirties fabrics.
Mary, this quilt is gorgeous. I love the starts and I am a big fan of 1930 prints.
