This one has been in the works for a while. I first asked my Mid-Century Modern bee members for a block back in 2014. Then I decided I needed lots more blocks for a quilt.
In 2015 I requested the same block from my Sew Sister Bee members. I kept rearranging on my design board until I came up with a layout. This required me to make five more block.
After that I had the layout but when measuring the blocks I had about 1/2" difference both ways. These blocks would not look good trimmed to the smaller size so I consulted with fellow Mid-Century bee member Elizabeth (Ocassional Place) and she recommended sashing two sides. I did this and squared each block to a consistent size! It worked perfectly.
Here you can see that for quilting I cross-hatched at 1 1/2".
The sashing is Carolyn Frielander leaf print in orange - I love it. It called for a solid orange binding.
It is so fun to have this one finished - finally.

The lite print sashing is lovely - the solid would have been too heavy and taken away from those lovely blocks. Very pretty quilt and congratulations on the finish.
Nice finish Mary. It looks fantastic! The sashing was a great solution to the size differences. I'm always so paranoid about making my bee blocks and not having them be the right size. It's one thing to make several blocks for yourself and have them all be off the same amount so they still work together. It's entirely different when getting several blocks that vary just a little.
What a great solution Mary! Elizabeth's a clever girl, isn't she? Lovely finish!
I love this quilt! Union Jacks in orange and aqua are looking quite fresh.
Very cool Mary. I love the palette so much and the washing is a perfect solution.
Beautiful quilt...and number three? I need roller skates to keep up with you!

I love knowing that there is a tiny part of me in this quilt. It's really beautiful, Mary!
It's a beautiful finish! I can not wait to see it in person! Good job, Mary!
It looks terrific, and taught me another quilty trick. Win-win. Hope you enjoy it.
