Retreat

This past weekend I attended our FIFTH annual bloggers quilt retreat and I have to say they just keep getting better! This is a retreat that started with none of us knowing each other except through our blogs AND now we are best friends.

On the design wall behind us is one of the quilts I worked on.

One of our best friends lost her husband during the past year so we surprised her with a comfort quilt made by the rest of the group.

I was lucky enough to give her an additional hug in person!

We also have a tradition of bringing a little something for everyone and this year I made a Wonderland fabric mosaic sleeping bag pouch (tutorial at www.aylin-Nilya.blogspot.de).

Here it is with some of the other surprise gifts:

Here is a quilt top I completed. The fabric is all Tule by Leah Duncan for Art Gallery Fabrics and the pattern is Arithmetic by Jeni Baker of In Color Order:

We already have next year's retreat planned. Here was the countdown days with a friends quilt in the background:

I'm so blessed to have happened into this group!

I finished this foundation paper pieced star block for Susan (Patch N Play) who is July's queen. This is for the Mid-Century Modern bee.

Next - the winner of the Heather Ross Kitty topper is Missy Shay. I will email you.

And for an added bonus - here is a photo of Brandon:

And equal time for Vince and Audrey:

Update & Giveaway!

I'm still kicking and still a blogger but this summer is keeping me hopping.

The Alaska cruise was wonderful.

The glaciers were awesome in the true sense if the word. That one "right" behind us above is over two miles wide.

We went on a whale watching excursion out of Juneau that did not disappoint - three humpbacks put on a "bubble basket feeding" display thay was incredible. No photos - it's all in my memory.

Yes, great food too! These were just a few from ONE night.

Right after we got back, Brandon was baptized! It was such a special day.

His cousins, Audrey and Vince joined the celebration.

Now I'm back to sewing; all of these vintage fabrics are cut & some even sewn back together.

I made two birthday postcards for some friends.

Now for the giveaway: I made this little topper using some Heather Ross fabric and I think a kitty fan should own it. To enter, tell me about why you are a fan of kittens and I will choose a random name next Monday, July 14th and send this to you.
