Blog Book Tour and Giveaway - Uncommonly Corduroy

I am happy to announce Day 4 of the Uncommonly Corduroy Blog Book Tour!
Stephanie of Loft Creations has published her first book called "Uncommonly Corduroy". I am one of her team of "Supreme's" who test her pattern instructions prior to being published.
Stephanie's new book is wonderful and you can win a free electronic version of the book.
The pattern that I tested is called Salt Water Taffy. Here is my version before it was named:
I think this is an awesome and versatile pattern. There is a coloring sheet included and I loved choosing colors and using the sheet to see how the quilt would look. My quilt is not made from corduroy but I want to try this pattern in corduroy.
Here is Saltwater Taffy from the book:
"Images from Uncommonly Corduroy by Stephanie Dunphy, Martingale, 2014; used by permission. Photos by Brent Kane. All rights reserved."
Isn't Saltwater Taffy awesome?

If you would like to win an electronic version of Uncommonly Corduroy, leave a comment on this post telling me what you have sewn with corduroy or what you would like to try and I will draw a name on Friday February 28th at the end of my day. Be sure to stop by all the other blogs too for more chances to win.

Stephanie's book is available from Martingale or Amazon. If you would like a personalized copy you can get it directly from Stephanie HERE, the link is on her sidebar.

Below is the schedule for all the stops on the Book Tour. Each participant is giving away a free e-copy of the book and showing their fabulous projects, too!

I've sewn with corduroy as bag linings, but never in a quilt!

A long time ago I made a simple tote bag for my sister with corduroy. I'd love to tackle a quilt at the moment with corduroy and possibly denim.

Ulla said...

It is amazing how curvy the lines appear in that quilt!
I have sewn corduroy dresses and pants, a bag, and even used some with jeans fabric in a quilt.
Count me out in the draw as I already have the book!

I have sewn a teddy bear made of corduroy, but never anything quilt related. I feel like a corduroy quilt would be a great winter couch quilt, I'll have to keep that in mind!

I've only sewn clothes with corduroy. Would love to try a quilt!

It's fun to see the differences that fabric choice makes.

Awesome quilt Mary. I love the high contrast color that you used. It really makes the pattern pop! I've sewn clothing for my children with corduroy but never a quilt. Thanks for the chance to win this book.

I haven't used corduroy before, but every time one of you post something you made from the book, there are so many things I'd like to make and try. What a great book and all the patterns I've seen so far are awesome!!

It's a beautiful quilt, Mary! I've sewn stuffed animals with corduroy (Molly Monkey free pattern by Mmmcrafts and Ewoks free pattern by Wild Olive.) I like the idea of a quilt to snuggle under that has some weight. Maybe backed with flannel?

I like your quilt , thanks

I am currently sewing a corduroy jumper for my 4 year old granddaughter. 21 wale and soft light fabric. The skirt is a lovely floral print corduroy. I can see this fabric working well in quilting projects. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

Cheers!

Very pretty quilts. I like both those color versions.

I cannot recall using corduroy to make anything in the past, but I do want to make my granddaughter a cute little jumper with wale cord. I also want to make the tote in Stephanie's book as well.

Oooh I love this quilt so much, definitely goes on my "must do" list!

prairie said...

First off, that's a stunning design, in itself. I mean, you could make that from seaweed and it would turn out great. I'm just starting to use wool and never dreamed of using corduroy before this, so it's on my list. Texture. That's the thing with corduroy. Since I'm an avid applique designer, I'm giving this some serious thought.....and need to win this book so I can get up to speed. Thanks for letting us visit.

I love your version of the quilt. The colours are great.

I haven't sewn with corduroy and the memories I have of it are that it can be thick and stiff, at least it was in the 70's, but I gather it's changed now.

lovely quilt! I've never sewn with corduroy, but I did buy some to make an embroidered bag. i should get on that!

I haven't made anything from corduroy since I stopped making clothing. Even then I don't think I used it much,
Thank you for the chance to win a copy of the book

I haven't sewn with corduroy since my girls were toddlers and they needed warm pants and we we're reading the Corduroy picture books. I can see where a quilt made of corduroy would be wonderful to cuddle under - especially this past winter. Your quilt is beautiful by the way.

Good morning Mary...I used corduroy to sew clothes and bags back in the 70's and 80's but nothing recently. I can see me using the 'new' corduroy to make a quilt. BTW...love your version, have a happy day!! Pauline
