Le Petite Schnibbles Ric Rac Patriotic Table Topper

Wow, that's a mouthful, huh?
So I won a wonderful stack of Red, White/Cream and Blue fabric from Carol of Carol's Crafty Creations
I really wanted a patriotic quilt in time for our Fourth of July Celebration.
AND
I wanted to complete my June Le Petite project for June which is the Schnibbles Ric Rac pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.

I succeeded!

That's 448 triangles and it fits my table perfectly.
It's not quilted yet, but I hope to do that today.

Thank you again to Carol of Carol's Crafty Creations for the great give away!

Thank you Accuquilt!

I want to thank AccuQuilt for allowing me to give a GO! Baby cutter to one of my readers.

If you haven't already, you should click on this link to get 22 free quilt patterns and blocks from AccuQuilt.  I got mine yesterday and will be using one of them in my next tutorial.
++++++
 Next, I want to thank everyone for entering the GO! Baby give away on my blog.  Your answers to my question about names were so interesting.  I've read every one and you should take the time to read some too!  People have interesting stories about names.

++++++

And now, the winner of the GO! Baby and three dies of her choice is:

Chrissy who said:

I have an active quilting blog (http://snappystitches.com), and I'm a follower of your blog.

Your cute little granddaughter's name is Audrey.

My parents chose my name "Chrissy" because of Chrissy from Three's Company! In fact, Chrissy is short for Christine, because they wanted to be sure that no one would try to call me "Tina" for short. They definitely wanted me to be "Chrissy". Come to think of it, I'm not sure why they didn't just name me Chrissy instead of Christine in the first place...

Congratulations Chrissy.  Please email me so I can get your information to forward to AccuQuilt.

I've had so much fun with the Pillow Talk Swap in the past, I decided to enter again.  I just finished my pillow and it's off in the mail to a far away place:

It is grey, yellow and white Kona Cotton and the inspiration was from the book: Tucks Textures & Pleats by Jennie Rayment.

I have so much fun designing and creating these pillows.  Happily it turned out like I wanted.  I hope my partner likes it.
Here is the pillow I already received from this swap:

This was from Lori of SewingMomX4 on flickr.

So here is how you can enter this give away:
Each person gets one entry but must meet all three of these qualifications to get that ONE entry:

3.  (I have set my blog to hide comments at this time so you can't see other people's comments.  I will show them after the give away is complete.)
Leave a comment telling me:

  • AND include my granddaughter's name in your comment (I show her photo and mention her name quite often on my blog.)

AccuQuilt GO! Baby Drunkard's Path Table Runner/ Wall Hanging Tutorial

AccuQuilt GO! Baby Drunkard's Path Table Runner/ Wall Hanging Tutorial

Never before have I tried:
  • AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter
  • Drunkard's Path / curved piecing
  • working strictly with solids (other than scraps)
Look what I made (and you can too):

 It's 15 inches by 29 inches and each finished block is seven inches square.

TUTORIAL
  1.  Materials list
  • AccuQuilt GO! Baby fabric cutter
  • AccuQuilt GO! Drunkard's Path 3 1/2" finished die
  • five varied fat eights of fabric for blocks - I used Pure Elements from Art Gallery in Burnt Orange, Cozumel Blue, Empire Yellow, Light Citron and Linen White

  • one coordinating fat quarter for binding
  • 16 X 30 each backing fabric and batting
  • thread
   2. Cutting Instructions
  • Cut each fat eighth into three - 5 3/4" by 11" rectangles
  • Cut fat quarter for binding into 6 strips 1 1/2" wide by 22" (single fold binding)
   3. Using the AccuQuilt GO! Baby fabric cutter and the Drunkard's Path die, cut all of the rectangles.

  You will have six sets of each color.  You can cut up to six layers at one time depending on fabric.  Since this was my first time, I cut three layers at a time.

 4.  Place on your design board to arrange the colors to your liking.

   5.  Assemble all of your curved pieces.  Here is where we go to an expert.  The magnificent Crazy Mom Quilts recently posted a tutorial on this very type of piecing so why reinvent the wheel??  She kindly agreed to let me link to her post called running in circles tutorial. Keep in mind she started out using templates to cut out her pieces which were a different size, but THE PIECING IS THE SAME.  Thank you Amanda Jean!

Remember:
  • smile side of piece on top when sewing
  • three pins put through fabric at least three times (this really helps)
  • keep bulk of fabric spread out
  • sew slowly
 Match up so the two pieces are centered from the back:
 and then turn over and pin in the center first and then the two edges.
See where I went through the fabric three times with the pins.

   6. Follow assembly instructions and pressing instructions from Crazy Mom Quilts here with two blocks across and four blocks down.

   7. Sandwich, quilt and bind as normal.  I did my quilting with hand quilting thread on my machine with regular thread in the bobbin and using a long stitch 1/4" outside each circle.
Here are a few more photos:

 Let me know if you have any questions on this tutorial or if you try it.

What Have I Been Doing?

I usually try to post finishes, but I've been working on about six different things at a time and not finishing any.

I do have my Birdie Stitches from Little Miss Shabby completed for May (and started June):

I think this is my favorite so far!

+++++++++
And I wish I could say I finished Single Girl, but I have finished cutting out all of the pieces for the circle for a king size quilt:

That means making the templates, tracing each one on fabric and cutting it out - whew - a lot of work.  I can't wait to finish this one!
+++++++++++

I working on a tutorial that I hope to have finished very soon!!!
It's something all new to me, so I hope it turns out!

+++++++++
And lucky for me, I've been spending a lot of time with this little sweetie:

Yes, there is a typo, but I still think it's pretty cute!
