Fabric Flowers

Since it is too cold here for anything to bloom yet, I needed a centerpiece.
These flowers are made simply with batik fabric scraps, glue, wire and florists tape.

The Snazzy Bag

I had some Cotton Blossoms fabric and Jelly Roll cuts left after the Cake Walk quilt and made The Snazzy Bag by Lila Tueller
The only thing I changed was using Jelly Roll (2 1/2 inch) rather than Honey Bun (1 1/2 inch) for the ruffles. It was so fun to make and I received a lot of compliments when I met the girls for lunch today!

Pay It Forward

I have joined my first PIF from Piecemeal Quilts.

The concept of a PIF occurs when acts of kindness are performed without expecting anything in return and are passed on, trusting that the recipients will do the same and Pay It Forward, resulting in a never ending chain of kindness.

By signing on, my commitment is to make and send a gift to the first 3 friends who post a comment to this post requesting to join this exchange and who promise to Pay It Forward to 3 other persons, and so on.

At this time, I don’t know what my 3 gifts will be, but I can promise you a gift made by me I will send to you within the next 365 days. By signing on, what YOU then have to do in return is to Pay It Forward by making the same announcement and commitment on YOUR blog.

If you are one of the first 3 that sign up, please be sure there is a way I can contact you through your blog or email so I can get your contact info. Also, because this completed project MAY be larger (I’m not sure yet, but the possibility is there), I’m going to limit participation to US residents only, because shipping gets to be expensive.

So who wants to play?

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Back in 2000, I was visiting my sister-in-law in Florida and paging through her Fons and Porter's For the Love of Quilting. I stopped dead in my tracks when I came upon Pinwheel Star by Liz Porter. I had never undertaken a quilt with 50 different fabrics, 93" x 112", a partial seam or blocks set on point, but I knew I needed to make this for ME! I still love it now as much as I did when I made it.

Ready to do some applique....

Look what I won from the Book - a - Round at All About Applique!

Who knew........?

Well, Carrie, I'm not sure about this being tagged for getting to know me...but here goes.
1. Easter was always dress up time: this photo may have been when I was around ten.
2. I have five sisters, three brothers and am blessed to have my parents still living on their own nearby. My Dad is 90 and my Mom is 89 and they will celebrate their 68th anniversary in July.
3. I am soooooooooo longing to be a grandparent (with no prospects in the near future - four married children -what's with that???)
4. Living on a lake was a lifetime dream that was realized seven years ago and is one of the things that makes me the happiest.
5. Adjusting to retirement (three years ago) after working for a large corporation for nearly 25 years a doing a long commute the whole time has not been too hard because of my passion for quilting.

How about getting to know more about Kerri and Amy if they have not already spilled it?
