This one has been in the works for a while. I first asked my Mid-Century Modern bee members for a block back in 2014. Then I decided I needed lots more blocks for a quilt.
In 2015 I requested the same block from my Sew Sister Bee members. I kept rearranging on my design board until I came up with a layout. This required me to make five more block.
After that I had the layout but when measuring the blocks I had about 1/2" difference both ways. These blocks would not look good trimmed to the smaller size so I consulted with fellow Mid-Century bee member Elizabeth (Ocassional Place) and she recommended sashing two sides. I did this and squared each block to a consistent size! It worked perfectly.
Here you can see that for quilting I cross-hatched at 1 1/2".
The sashing is Carolyn Frielander leaf print in orange - I love it. It called for a solid orange binding.
It is so fun to have this one finished - finally.
