Happy Easter

Being a Grandma certainly has cut into my quilting, but I've still been sewing. First are these two bunnies:

The pattern and tutorial are from Revoluzza and can be found here.

Then I decided to make a basket also using fabric:

The pattern is a free project from the book Precut Patchwork Party in a book review done on the Sew4Home website.

I used ten strips from a Sherbet Pips Jelly Roll. The basket holds the two bunnies:

The last project is this Hungry Bunny bag for Audrey:

The colors are a little washed out on this photo. The tutorial is available here from Little Blue Boo.

Harrington and Hannah Easter Postcard

As soon as I saw this free pattern at The Raspberry Rabbits I knew I wanted to make them.
I've made fabric cards before, but not wool.
I decided making three would be just as easy as one (almost).
I had all the ingredients on hand, so that helped since it was too cold and snowy to go out shopping.
I was a little worried that they might get beat up in the USPS system, but Mom called to say hers arrived in perfect condition.

Easter Dress Finish!

I finished Audrey's Easter dress with time to spare.  The request was for purple and I knew I wanted to use Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House for Andover.

I just wasn't sure about a pattern until this brand new oliver & s pattern showed up a few weeks ago.  It is called the pinwheel and it's a separate slip dress and tunic that can be worn separately or together!

Bias binding is tiny white dot on purple Hoopla by Moda.  The bloomers are not part of the pattern.

I delivered it last night but did not get to see it on Audrey yet - can't wait!!

March Mid-Century Modern Bee block

I was so ready to make this block after seeing all the amazing ones my bee partners had posted on Flickr.  But while I was I Florida without my stash or scraps, it had to wait until I got home.

Debbie asked for a "low volume" hugs and kisses block based on tutorial by Little Miss Shabby HEREI think Debbie is going to have a great quilt.  You can see the other blocks here on Flickr.

This bee is so much fun.  Thanks again for inviting me Cindy.

I made a pair of applique bibs for fairly new twin great niece and nephew and in my excitement to get them in the mail, I didn't even take one photo!!

I'll ask the busy Mom to snap a photo for me if she get's a chance;  we know it will be cuter anyway on the babies!

Happy Town progress

I got this far on my blocks with Happy Town by Jacquelynn Steves before I ran out of the background in Florida.  I used the strip piecing method for the Granny Square Quilt found at the Moda Bake Shop.

I thought I had more at home - I didn't.
I thought it was Kona in Ash and checked my sample card - it wasn't .
I checked the fabric at Sewtropolis when I went to MMQG meeting Thursday - no match there (but lots of other great fabric).

I have everything cut out for three more granny squares and ordered online my next guess for a match.  I'll let you know if I find it - otherwise this will be a square quilt!  I have a plan on how to finish it.

You can find Happy Town fabric by Henry Glass here. Remember you still have time to enter your quilt in the Quilts For Kids Contest!

Blocks

Every month the MMQG has a block lottery.  You get one entry for every block you turn in and there is color inspiration.  This month was a candy cane color seed and wonky geese:

I sure had fun making them!  I didn't win :o{

As part of our MMQG Madron Road challenge, we were asked to make a 12 1/2" charity block:

Petrillo Bag

I tested another bag for Sara of Sew Sweetness call the Petrillo Bag.  It is a larger bag and the unique thing about this bag is that it has a padded inside pocket with a flap where you can put your iPad!

I finished this on a rainly day in Florida so I did not get any outside photos to show the actual colors.  The main fabric is an OOP Tula Pink from her Flutterby line with Moda.  I found a great deal on some at a Fort Myers quilt shop.

Finished Size: 12” long x 15-1/2” tall
The pattern is available here.
Sara had LOTS of pattern testers so you can see MANY versions on her blog.

Quilt Show

We are on our way home and I wanted to show you a few quilts that I saw at a quilt show in Punta Gorda FL.

This next photo is a close-up of the above quilt which was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  Look at all those little pieces!

The quilt below is machine appliqued and then a sparkly tulle added with adhesive before quilting.

It was magnificent in person.

This quilt had beautiful hand applique.

Another beauty!

A close up of a Trip Around The World with all solids.

And I leave you with a photo of the beauty we left behind in Florida.  Hopefully we will return next year.
