Doll Quilt Swap 10 Finish!

I finished my Doll Quilt Swap hand quilting and binding yesterday:

It is sixteen inches square and is for my secret swap partner.  I used the method/process from Thimble blossom pattern "pint-sized" but made the whirly-gigs interlocking rather than using a solid background with each print.

I asked for advice after just hand quilting with perle cotton around the outside of the entire center and ended up quilting inside each whirly-gig with a quilting thread:

I'm very happy with the finished product and will have a hard time sending it away;  but I'm sure I'll receive something fantastic in return!

 And.....it's not due until the end of MARCH, but I'll be traveling again and wanted it finish.

++++++
Thank you to:

I am the lucky owner of a piece of ART from MamaCJ...this mug rug:
....which I won on Sew We Quilt (previously Stash Manicure). I just love it!

++++

And sweet Cyndi from Blue Bird Swing added on to her birthday giveaway by having an extra one for everyone who commented that had a February birthday!

Well, she drew my name for a cute Dilly Dally charm pack, but look at what all came with it:
There is a package of Thank You cards that match a Magnetic Shopping/To Do List, a cute journal and some sweet treats!  Thanks again Cyndi - you are so generous.

+++++++

And lucky me...
I won a copy of Kim Brackett's Scrap-Basket Sensations! on Nicoles' Sister's Choice Quilts blog during the blog tour!

There are so many wonderful patterns in this book, I don't know which one I'll make first.

Fandango Birdie Stitches

I finished the embroidery for my first two blocks from Birdie Stitches from Little Miss Shabby  a while ago but just added the Fandango patchwork borders:

I chose the floss while in Florida and I did not have the Fandango fabric with me (only a photo of a layer cake) so I was worried about it clashing.

I think it turned out okay.  This was fun to stitch during the car ride from Florida to Texas.

Waiting for block three.....

Giveaway: Entering for this is simple! One, you have to be a follower of this blog. Once you're a follower, comment on my blog.  You're officially entered to win!

This contest will end on Thursday, February 24th, 2011 at 11:00pm (CST) and is open to US entrants only. Sorry! All entries must be in by then. The winner will be announced shortly after that and will receive a gift card code to use.

Good luck!  This is my first time doing this type of giveaway, so I will be following up with the winner to make sure they are happy with their prize before I would ever do this on my blog again.

Weekend Sewing

I heard a little girl might like a purple and green owl softie so I searched for a pattern.
I found "Eva Owl" from Design. Wash. Rinse. Repeat and it was exactly what I was looking for.
Searching through my scraps I found all the ingredients and made her this afternoon:

She is almost seven inches tall.  The only thing I changed from the pattern was to add wool felt eyes rather than buttons.
++++++++

I also made a headband for a special great-niece named Piper:
It looks red on this photo but is really a pretty magenta!

+++++++++

I am participating in Doll Quilt Swap 10 and spent most of Saturday on my little quilt.  All I have left is to finish the quilting and the binding.  I am going to have a hard time sending this one away.
Here is a little peek:

I will do a complete post when I am finished.  The quilt measures sixteen inches square.  I hope my partner likes it.

I'm Back Home

Even my sister is asking why I haven't posted since I left Florida.
I'm having a hard time getting back on a schedule.
Here is some sewing I've finished:

I'm very happy to be all caught up on the Fatquarter Shop Mystery BOM and I've done two blocks for each month!!

These last three were so fun to make, especially the mitten!

I'm doing the Birdie Stitches BOM from Little Miss Shabby and will be using Fandango fabric with it:

I only have about five minutes of embroidery left to do on the February block and will show that when I have the Fandango patchwork borders on the blocks.

I got a beautiful bouquet for a special occasion and wanted to share it:

Time to get to bed so I can get up early to spend the day with Audrey tomorrow.
